DIY Officially Extends Emergency PPKM, This is the Focus and Target

Gudeg.net - The DIY Regional Government (Pemda) has officially imposed an extension of the Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) until July 25, 2021.

The Regional Secretary (Sekda) of DIY Kadarmanta Baskara Aji said that the central government included DIY in the implementation of Emergency PPKM for level three and four categories.

"DIY has entered levels three and four, so we will continue our Emergency PPKM until July 25, 2021," he said at a press conference via a streaming zoom meeting from the DIY Regional Secretary's Office in Kepatihan, Wednesday (21/7).

Baskara Aji explained that the implementation of PPKM level three in DIY covers Gunung Kidul and Kulonprogo Regencies, while level four is Bantul Regency, Sleman Regency and Yogyakarta City.

"However, the implementation of PPKM between levels three and four remains the same, no different and refers to the Instructions of the Minister of Home Affairs and the Instructions of the Governor of DIY," he explained.

The local government plans to refocus on tightening and restricting community mobility in order to reduce the number of Covid-19 cases in the extension of phase II this time.

Aji said that in the next five days he would optimize the implementation of Emergency PPKM at all levels of society.

"At the end of the anti-PPKM phase II implementation period, the Regional Government will also conduct a re-evaluation, the same as the PPKM phase one period." he said.

The results of the evaluation of the implementation of the Emergency PPKM phase I showed a decline in activity in various sectors, such as tourism down 25 percent, park public areas down 33 percent, public transportation down 49 percent and workplaces down 21 percent.

Meanwhile, for grocery stores and pharmacies, there was a nine percent increase in activity, and a 13 percent increase in residential areas.

Baskara Aji hopes that the extension of the Emergency PPKM can reduce community mobility by 30 percent.

“The president's target for a reduction is around 30 percent and if it could be more, it would be better. Meanwhile, the target for this second extension remains towards community mobility," he hoped.
